Ashford Arts Centre Founder Releases Song Which Was Selected by BBC Introducing For Broadcast On BBC Radio 6.

I live in Ashford and recorded a song recently at Ashford Arts Centre which I then submitted to the BBC Uploader and it was selected for radio play by the BBC Introducing team and broadcast on BBC Radio 6. The show is available on the BBC iPlayer until the 15th of February. You can listen by clicking here:

Anyone interested in eclectic music and Spoken Word (Unseen Poetry etc...) shows, please visit Ashford Community Theatre, which is located inside Ashford Arts Centre.

The arts centre is run by KATFM, a registered charity.

KATFM set up and manages some of the most vibrant grassroots arts projects in Ashford:

1. Ashford Arts Centre - A Centre for the Creative and Performing Arts in Ashford which has professionals in art/dance/music/film etc... using spaces alongside community and youth learners. It's a place to learn beginner to professional-level music, film and drama training and it's available to anyone, regardless of ability or financial background. There's something for everybody.
2. Ashford Community Theatre- Small, eclectic venue located inside the arts centre. Spoken Word (Unseen Poetry etc...), acoustic gigs, rehearsals, recording sessions, art/piano and drama lessons take place here every week.

I serve as a music teacher at the arts centre and am part of a team of 3 musicians running a Singer/Songwriter course. Anyone interested in pursuing a career in music, film or theatre should visit the AshfordArtsCentre.com website and get involved in the Film Makers Society, Acting and Technique Class, Music Ensemble and more.

Lastly, if anyone's curious about the song selected by Radio 6, it's called 'All the Way' and it's about wanting to go all the way through a ruby, silver and golden wedding anniversary. It's about 5 minutes into the programme and this is the link - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05tnqh9

I hope my modest success as a musician can help raise the profile of the wonderful things Ashford Arts Centre is doing every day... year-round. Teaching people to read/write and perform music... create and edit art and film... dance and sing.

Thank you,
Rhonda Merrick
